What is IT? When I started in this profession, IT meant writing software. Coding, debugging, implementing, more debugging, and then starting the cycle again.

Now it means taking someone else’s software, installing it, managing it, calling the vendor when it breaks, and trying to explain to your customer that you can’t fix it - you can only install a patch when the vendor finally makes it available. I used to be Ferrari, now I’m a mechanic waiting on parts.
